Modern worship pioneer Martin Smith has returned with his most significant solo material to date: the album "Joy," which is available today. Boldly speaking words of courage and authenticity in an age marked by increasing uncertainty, Smith explores what it means to embrace joy amidst discomfort, disappointment, and uncertainty. Listen to the nine-song album "Joy" now.
Over his remarkable 20+ year music career, Smith has achieved over 300 million global streams. His music features an expansive, congregational, earthy, and honest sound. This record unfolds like a march toward hope and serves as a gift to the global church, encouraging every listener to confront their reality with more joy than ever before.
“Making music should be fun—especially since I have fewer records ahead of me than behind me,” shares Martin Smith. “You need a strong conviction that it’s worth going through the process and that you have something meaningful to express. After COVID, a blanket of sadness seemed to settle over everyone. My hope and prayer is that when you listen to this music, you find the courage to break free from that. I hope you find the strength to dance again, lift your head, laugh at yourself, and rediscover JOY.”
Martin Smith has written many of the church’s most beloved songs, significantly influencing the modern worship scene. The former frontman of the chart-topping band Delirious? and a multi-GMA Dove Award® winner has toured worldwide throughout his extensive career, performing in arenas and stadiums for millions of people, including on the main stage at Glastonbury Festival. He has toured alongside Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams and most recently opened for Kari Jobe and Cody Carnes during "The Blessing" European tour. Additionally, Smith has participated in Nashville events such as the "Worship Together" conference and performed at Bridgestone Arena for “The Send” conference.
